Software Engineer - Custom Report (Pune, India)

The role will involve design, coding, and unit testing of new software, as well as analyzing and fixing problems in existing software.  Coding and testing can be performed independently, while design and problem fixing will need guidance from senior software professionals (Senior Engineer - Software Development or higher).

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Moderate understanding of the application component for which software is being developed or maintained
  • Based on design, code moderately complex N-tier application components
  • Code and test maintenance fixes/enhancements to existing software

Job Qualifications – Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (computer science or electrical engineering preferred)
  • Programming proficiency in at least one of  C/C++  or Java, JSP
  • Minimum one year of experience in software industry
  • Proficiency in using various developmental tools (CASE tools) for coding and testing
  • Working knowledge of at least one development platform Windows (DCOM/ActiveX/MFC) or UNIX
  • Good working knowledge of DBMS
  • Knowledge of Configuration Management Systems
  • Understanding of software design (object oriented or structured) and proficient in transforming design to code
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Good command of spoken and written English

Job Qualifications – Preferred:

  • Master’s degree or higher in a technical field
  • Knowledge of GUI development, database management systems (Oracle, also dBase/Clipper), Perl scripting, case tools, and numerical analysis
  • Knowledge of development frameworks such as Struts/Spring
  • Knowledge of XML, XSL, and AJAX
  • Scripting languages
  • Experience with multiple platforms and development tools
  • Good at presenting technical topics to non-technical people
